If you’re visiting from Encouragement for Today, welcome!
When I wrote the piece shared today, it was months before the current pandemic changed many aspects of our lives. Church doors were still open, our family still saw friends on a regular basis, and my children attended public school. Today, our circumstances are completely different, and I find myself needing to cling to the truths I wrote in Shift: Changing Our Focus to See the Presence of God more than ever.
God knew that when I wrote a book about seeing God in the midst of uncertainty, we would soon enter a season where we faced more uncertainty than ever.
But the beautiful truth about his character is this: It is certain, and it never changes.
When we long to know what the future holds and are desperate for answers, there is only one place where we will find peace. And it isn’t in our news feeds, the media, or the latest CDC updates. It’s in the still, small voice that speaks into our quarantined lives, and reminds us there is no darkness he hasn’t already overcome.
If you’re in need of some hope right now, I hope you’ll stick around and become part of our growing community. I send a weekly devotion to help you see God in the messy, often unpredictable circumstances of life, and encourage you to look for him in the places where it may appear as though he’s absent. When Jesus walked the earth, he had continual communication with the Father, and gave us a glimpse of what our relationship with him could look like. Even in the face of adversity, challenges, and torture unlike anything we will ever experience, he and the Father were one.
I believe that through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can experience this continual communication too, and see God even in the most difficult situations. We can experience calm in the chaos of life. In my weekly posts and new book, Shift, I explore some of the ways we can adjust our focus and see his hand right here, right now.

Thank you for stopping by today, new friend! I love the way technology connects people from all over the globe and helps us to become one body, the church, even when we are in a season of isolation. Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments and let me know you are here. I am praying for each of us today, as we continue to navigate this chapter of our world’s history. Please know that no matter where you are or what type of challenges you’re facing today, you are not alone.
